Mtg goldfish standard mono red3/5/2023 I tried such a list as well and felt it was viable, but it did come across as a little flimsier. There is a faster Mono-Red variant that generally runs Ghitu Lavarunner, Viashino Pyromancer, and Wizard’s Lightning alongside Bomat Courier and Light up the Stage. I felt like 22 lands was a little low while 23 lands was a little high, so I split the difference with 22 lands and 2 Abbot of Keral Keep. Abbot of Keral Keep counts as a fractional land.As I wanted to draw around three spells in the early game on average, I desired 16 noncreature spells, which meant that I needed to add 2 Rimrock Knights. Rimrock Knight’s key role is to increase the spell count for the prowess creatures. So I felt Ash Zealot was the better main deck option. In that sense, it’s similar to Eidolon of the Great Revel, except that Ash Zealot has a decent body and no downside in creature matchups, whereas Eidolon of the Great Revel can be a liability, especially on the draw. So Ash Zealot is kind of a sideboard card, but one that you can reasonably run in the main deck. It also dodges the Unravel the Aethers and Natural States that Lotus Breach players generally board in to answer Damping Sphere. It punishes opponents for escaping Uro, Titan of Nature’s Wrath using Jace, Telepath Unbound exploiting Underworld Breach or activating Emry, Lurker of the Loch. Ash Zealot then fills the remaining slots for 2-drops that are meant to come down on turn 2.Kari Zev, Skyship Raider is a legend, so I didn’t want to run more than two out of fear of drawing multiples. This 4-4 split compromises between early-game explosion and late-game staying power, while ensuring that we have a 2-drop the vast majority of the time. First off, there are four creatures that you really want to play on turn 2 ( Kari Zev and Ash Zealot) and four creatures that can act as late-game mana sinks but could act as a 2-drop in a pinch ( Rimrock Knight and Abbot of Keral Keep). In terms of 2-drops, my current build has a two copies each of four different cards, which just looks plain weird. If they win on turn 5, then we have to win on turn 4. To race the combo decks, you need to go fast. It’s lower to the ground than most red decks, and I am confident that is the way to go in the current Pioneer format. My list has ten 1-drops and eight 2-drops, which matches Kiihne’s mana curve. What’s up with the weird splits of 1-drops and 2-drops? All in all, you have to keep an eye on the metagame to find the perfect split of 3-drops, but fitting more Mutavault into the mana base is great one way or another. It also helps bash through Courser of Kruphix, and it can even set up surprise lethal against Dream Trawler. The Crasher, by the way, is a card I ended up preferring over Kari Zev’s Expertise because it is still a good proactive threat if your opponent doesn’t control a 6/6. I’m on Goblin Rabblemaster right now, with Ferocidon and Crasher in my sideboard. Overall, I think it’s better to run either Goblin Rabblemaster (which is best against control and combo decks), Rampaging Ferocidon (which is best against Heliod or Uro decks) or Ahn-Crop Crasher (which is best against Uro or Inverter of Truth). And Bant Spirits, if you can deal with their Lords, is a good matchup anyway. But most Pioneer decks right now don’t rely on 1-toughness creatures. Looking at the metagame right now, Goblin Chainwhirler is still great against Bant Spirits, can pick off stray Satyr Wayfinders, and combines nicely with Soul-Scar Mage or Torbran to demolish an opponent’s board. This list performed much better: Kiihne finished in the Top 8 of the Players Tour, and I made the Top 16 of the Grand Prix. This not only provided a more suitable 3-drop but also enabled more Mutavaults in the mana base. Instead of Goblin Chainwhirlers and a top-heavy curve, there were more early drops, fewer lands, and Goblin Rabblemasters. I did not do well at Players Tour Phoenix as a result.Īfter bombing out in the Players Tour, I immediately registered for next day’s Grand Prix, for which I based my list on the one Zachary Kiihne was using to crush the Players Tour. Goblin Chainwhirler is not a relevant threat against Dimir Inverter or Lotus Breach-it’s basically a 3/3 for three with no abilities-and the list I played was too slow. Kowalski wrote in his Deck Guide that “Goblin Chainwhirler is a reason to play this deck, and PLEASE, don’t cut it.” While Kowalski’s assessment may have been true for the metagame in Brussels, where Mono-Black Aggro was the most-played deck and there were plenty of 1-toughness creatures to kill, this was no longer the case in Phoenix. At the Players Tour in Phoenix, I played a Mono-Red list that was similar to the ones that Grzegorz Kowalski and Juan José Rodríguez López found success with at the Players Tour in Brussels.

The last of us part 2 sales3/5/2023 Video games operate through what people in the industry call mechanics - the actions that allow a player to navigate the world and give a game its logic and structure. The Last of Us Part II carries a 95 rating on Metacritic, with cautions like “ uncomfortable” and “ misery simulator” giving way to pronouncements like “ one of best video games ever made.” A cheap sensation turned art Most of the early reviews from critics are similarly awed. And then there are endings that make you start to think about your relationship with the character and - really - your relationship with narrative itself.” “There are endings where you think ‘Well, that’s perfect,’ and that’s that. “I’m still thinking about that ending,” he said. He’s biased, of course, but in his estimation the sequel’s finale is on par with the original. Mazin recently played an advance copy of The Last of Us Part II, and is now working through it a second time. “I’ve never experienced anything that viscerally made me question the value of love,” he said. Craig Mazin, the creator of the 2019 mini-series “Chernobyl,” had his pick of projects to pursue after that series won 10 Emmys he decided to develop The Last of Us for HBO based largely on the poignant brutality of its ending. The title sold more than 17 million copies, won numerous Game of the Year awards, and is being developed into an HBO series.Įven if you don’t play the title, you’ll probably start to hear about it. The sequence helped establish The Last of Us as one of the most successful games in the medium’s history, a high-water mark of both artistic achievement and commercial viability. The only way to move the story forward - and reach an ending in which I’d already invested 14 emotionally debilitating hours - was to murder the pleading doctor while his colleagues screamed “No!” and called me an animal. At this juncture of The Last of Us, however, there was nothing but a glaring lack of alternatives. A lot of games, including highly ambitious ones, present you at various points with a kill-the-guy/don’t-kill-the-guy binary, allowing you to shape at least a part of your character’s morality. Video games are constructed around choice, and when I played the game for the first time, I expected one here. He stands there limply, holding a scalpel, so technically he’s not unarmed - but you’ve got a gun and the gameplay has made it clear, after hours of close fighting, that your character could subdue the man peacefully if he wanted. At the climax of The Last of Us, a blockbuster 2013 video game that is superficially about a zombie-fungus apocalypse but is really about the lengths a parent will go to protect a child, you are forced to kill a doctor. Jehova es mi pastor3/4/2023 Another incident occurred when Mustaine, who had been drinking, poured a can of beer down the neck and into the pick-ups of McGovney's bass, resulting in collateral damage. Mustaine was fired following the altercation, but the next day, Mustaine asked to be allowed back in the band and was granted his request. Hetfield allegedly yelled at Mustaine's dog and kicked it in a fit of rage, which provoked Mustaine into physically attacking Hetfield. On one occasion, Mustaine brought his dog to rehearsal the dog jumped onto the car of Metallica bassist Ron McGovney and scratched the paint. I could see they were beginning to get fed up of seeing Dave drunk out of his mind all the time." I mean, they all drank of course, but Dave drank more… much more. He'd get wasted and become a real crazy person, a raging megalomaniac, and the other guys just couldn't deal with that after a while. Brian Slagel, owner of Metal Blade Records, recalled in an interview: "Dave was an incredibly talented guy but he also had an incredibly large problem with alcohol and drugs. Metallica began recording their first album titled Kill 'Em All in 1983 but Mustaine's tenure with Metallica was short-lived. In his own words, Mustaine remembers his first meeting with James Hetfield and Ulrich: "I was in the room warming up and I walked out and asked, 'Well, am I gonna audition or what?', and they said, 'No, you've got the job.' I couldn't believe how easy it had been and suggested that we get some beer to celebrate." Metallica's drummer Lars Ulrich had posted an ad in a local newspaper, The Recycler, looking for a lead guitarist. In 1981, Mustaine disbanded Panic and joined Metallica as the lead guitarist. Mustaine stated that after the band started to fall apart in 1981, Quecke also died. Both Mike Leftwych and a sound man were killed in a car crash after Panic's second show. The lineup was Mike Leftwych on drums, Bob Evans on bass, Tom Quecke on rhythm guitar, Pat Voeks as the vocalist, with Mustaine as the lead guitarist. Mustaine has described his father as "a very smart and successful man, good with his hands and head" who was a branch manager for Bank of America before moving to NCR, where the corporation's transition from mechanical to electrical technology ultimately made him expendable and cost him his job. Mustaine has described family life as tumultuous during his early life, lamenting years later that "life unraveled in a great many ways" for his family before he was born. Due to the significant age difference between Mustaine and his sisters, as a child he often thought of them as his aunts rather than sisters. Mustaine had three older sisters, Michelle, Suzanne, and Debbie, who were 18, 15 and 3 respectively when he was born. The Mustaine family were Jehovah's Witnesses. Plan the entire year- This is a great way to plan if you like to see the entire “whole to part” view of the year. This also makes it easy to pivot, or change, any curriculum or schedule at any point in the year because the entire year doesn’t hinge on things staying the way they were planned. Each week, a plan will be made for the next week, so things aren’t set in stone. Plan as you go- This type of homeschool plan is great for the homeschooling mom who wants complete flexibility, which can be a beautiful thing. The planning process goes one of two ways: There are a couple of different ways to plan your homeschool year and it all depends on how much flexibility you want and how much planning you want to do throughout the year. Those all play into your homeschool planning. It doesn’t matter if you have a lesson plan book because I’m going to share a few templates with you so you can create exact plans that fit your schooling needs.Ī few things to remember as you plan your school year are: field trips, upcoming vacations, and holidays. I create my own lesson plans, which allows me to cater to my kids’ specific needs and today I’m going to walk you through the process. I noticed that when we began the new school year, I felt so much peace knowing the whole year was planned and that things weren’t going to fall through the cracks. Planning for a new homeschool year can seem daunting, but it is quite simple and homeschool moms have been doing it for generations, so you’re in good company.Ī few years ago, I began planning my entire school year the summer prior to school starting. Today, I’m talking about easy homeschool lesson planning for the mom who wants to check things off of her list and enjoy homeschooling! What easy lesson plans would you add to the list? Please share in the comments.Planning for a new homeschool year doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Plan ahead some hands-off assignments, then kick back and let your kids do all the work! Teaching is a demanding, high-energy job, and nobody is at 100 percent every day, but that doesn’t mean your kids have to suffer. And remember, any activity done in groups of four leads to only one-fourth of the grading for you! If you’re having a whole sleepless week and need additional downtime, kids can play each other’s games and evaluate them.Īll of these activities require at least a little prep upfront, but once that’s done, they’re high-interest enough to mostly manage themselves. It’s totally flexible, can be done in groups or individually, and incorporates a variety of summarizing and analytical skills. Once again, you can adapt this to almost any topic. The noise and hilarity will also keep you awake, ensuring that nobody writes on your face with a Sharpie. Kids actually enjoy this assignment, and it’s easy to grade on the spot. I like this especially as a way to incorporate vocabulary. It’s versatile and can expand to fit almost any amount of time. If you don’t need silence and your kids can handle group work, this is the way to go. If their lives were movies, who would play them and their family and friends? There are endless variations on this assignment, and all you have to do is go over the instructions and then sip coffee for the rest of class. Let them create a soundtrack to their year and explain why they chose each song. Have them take an online personality quiz, like Myers-Briggs, and write about it. Older kids love assignments that allow them to think about their own lives and personalities. It was some of the best writing I’ve gotten from my students, and required virtually no input from me. They created identities as sibling groups that were separated into different foster homes, and wrote a series of letters to one another describing their experiences. A couple of years ago, a group of students in my class researched Operation Pied Piper, the evacuation of children from London during World War II. If you’ve got the rubric and a list of websites already, this is a really easy opportunity for kids to self-direct their learning. Rather than answering the questions at the end of the chapter, consider having students research an event and write a first-person account of it. Seriously, find five or six on topics you cover during the year, and it’s a pretty great fallback. The combination of graphic features and video added to the text makes the kids automatically more interested and focused. There are a million of these out there, and it’s relatively easy to make your own if you can’t find one you like. The batman cast3/4/2023 It stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman alongside Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell. The film was directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig. Pictures, it is a reboot of the Batman film franchise. Pictures, DC Films, 6th & Idaho, and Dylan Clark Productions, and distributed by Warner Bros. This article has been updated with additional information since its original publish date. The Batman is a 2022 American superhero film based on the DC Comics character Batman. And at present, the movie is sitting with an 85 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes – not too bad. If you’re wondering if the film will deliver, allow us to point you in the direction of our review of The Batman film (spoiler alert, we loved it). No news of when or where The Batman will appear on streaming services in Australia, but you can rent or purchase the film with Apple TV or Amazon’s Prime Video as of now – it’s $29.99 to rent and $34.99 to buy. The Batman is now officially streaming on HBO Max for viewers in the States (or those with a VPN and an account). If you’re interested in when or where you will be able to stream the film from home (though this is really a movie made for the cinema) there have been some updates in that space, too. The movie’s release date for Australian cinemas was March 3, 2022. It was a miracle the film managed to wrap up shooting after Robert Pattinson contracted COVID-19 in the UK. Like so many other movies, The Batman’s release date was pushed back multiple times. We have Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes) to thank for this new vision, who took over directing duties from Ben Affleck. Joining the cast is Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth and Peter Sarsgaard as District Attorney Gil Colson.īarry Keoghan also plays a mysterious role in the film. Pattinson initially received a wave of backlash but, like every Batman before him, it’s best not to judge before seeing the performance for yourself. Robert Pattinson is the chosen one who is donning the cowl in The Batman. Now for the all-important question: who’s playing Batman? So while it may not be part of the DCEU, it looks like The Batman will have its own little cinematic universe anyway. That being said, The Batman has already spawned the development of a new spin-off TV series about the Gotham police and a second spin-off about the Penguin. It’s basically a fresh slate for the character and means you can go into this film without having viewed any other DC movies. Instead, it exists as its own standalone film and isn’t influenced by any of the other established characters and storylines from the canon DCEU. has been trying to establish a DC cinematic universe to rival the likes of Marvel for years now, but The Batman will not be part of this. This new behind-the-scenes footage should give you a better idea of where The Batman is going. Given these inspirations, it looks like this version of Batman will be darker than we’ve ever seen before.ĭirector Matt Reeves even described it as being “almost a horror movie” as well as a hardcore detective story, The Batman will apparently draw from pivotal comics like Batman: Year One and The Long Halloween. Instead, we’ll see Batman in his second year of crime-fighting as he faces the corruption within Gotham City and hunts down a deranged serial killer known as The Riddler. We’ve seen the tragic origin story that turns Bruce Wayne into Batman a million times over, so you’ll be glad to know this film won’t be re-treading that path. For various reasons that film fell apart and was replaced by The Batman, which is essentially a standalone reboot of the franchise. You may remember once upon a time that Ben Affleck was set to star and direct his own Batman movie. The Batman: What’s the story? Robert Pattinson. Eastward ho3/4/2023 The scenes from the 3rd tee The blind 3rd teeshot The approach at 3Īt 182 yards, the 4th is the first of a tremendous set of par threes at Eastward Ho! Playing directly on the water, this hole requires another carry over a chasm to a square back-to-front sloped green lined by a severe drop-off right. Requiring just a wedge for most golfers, this approach plays to a narrow, undulating green surrounded by three bunkers. The only thing in view from the teebox are deep bunkers squeezing the fairway at 160 yards, but there’s ample fairway beyond them. The 3rd hole is the shortest par 4 at just 326 yards, but another blind, uphill forced carry makes this another difficult teeshot. From the 3rd teebox, you have a panoramic view of some of the best holes on the course, Pleasant Bay, and the ridiculously unique terrain. The 2nd teeshot is one of the toughest on the course The approach at 2Īfter a short walk back over the road, you come across one of the most breathtaking views in American golf. This approach then runs uphill to a tiny, undulating green. Featuring a blind teeshot over an 150 yard forced carry, this fairway slides right with bunkers on the left at 180 and 250 yards and fescue down the right. The uphill par 4 opener The approach at 1Īfter a short walk across Fox Hill Rd., the 2nd is a short but intimidating 350 yard par 4. Take at least one club extra to reach this heavily back-to-front sloped green. Midline bunkers are to be avoided but begin at 275 yards so they won’t be in play for most golfers. Officially 380 yards, this hole plays longer with a patch of fescue down the left and OB right. The opening hole is one of the few without water views, but is a terrific opening hole as a sweeping uphill dogleg left. This design works well on water property, as Pete Dye utilized it on both The Ocean Course and Whistling Straits. The overarching theme at Eastward Ho! is fun and honestly we need more modern courses built with this in mind.Ĭonstructed on a narrow isthmus, the layout is routed in a figure-eight shape, with the 1st and 10th running away from the central clubhouse and 9th and 18th returning to it. At just over 6,400 yards from the Tips, this isn’t the longest course, but uneven lies, dramatic elevation changes, and the ever-present wind pose a serious challenge. In addition to sensational views of Pleasant Bay from almost every hole, Eastward Ho! is most famous for its undulating fairways, which are some of the wildest you’ll ever play thanks to the glacial moraine it sits on. I have no idea how Eastward Ho! isn’t a top 100 course by every publication, and I can’t think of any course in New England I’d rather play on a summer day than here. Undeniably the most aesthetically pleasing course in all of New England, it also features a terrific routing with some of the best holes in the world. Hole Descriptions: There are certain courses that have that “it” factor and make it so you never want the day to end. Their superintendent, Frank Hancock, came from Shinnecock and is one of the best in the business.
